<lj:music>Dancing with myself - Glee</lj:music>

This past sunday(the 13th) was one of the best nights of my life.
Me and a friend went to the 9.30 club in DC to see one of my favourite bands Switchfoot, my friend had only heard one song before but she decided to come anyway.
I have been listening to them for about seven years and their music has always meant alot to me.
When we got there we stood in line for about 40min to an hour. We got really good places high up on a balcony.
At around 8.30 the concert started and everyone noticed that the singer was missing from the stage when the other bandmembers started to sing.
All of a sudden the singer stands less than a meter from me and my friend and starts singing the first song!
I couldn't believe what was happening.
He later ran down the starts and worked his way through the crowd all while singing the song.
The rest off the concert was fenomenal, the singer even went through the crowd a second time and stood on one of the bar counters.

They played all of their latest album Hello Hurricane and then played additional 12-15 songs from all of their albums.
They even had a guy playing along on the cello for a few songs.

After the show me and my friend saw that the band had their tour bus right by the club, so we decided to wait by the bus along with around fifteen other people. At around 45 minutes after the show ended on of the first bandmembers came out! He was so nice to everybody, he took time and spoke to everyone, took pictures with them and signed autographs.
Ten - fifteen minutes later the base player, Tim Foreman came out and I got to meet him.
I told him that it was such an honour and I told him that I was from sweden and that I had been a fan for seven years. To my surprise he was very amazed and told me that he really appreciated me being a fan, he even told me that his mom was half swedish.
I got to take a picture with him and got him to sign my cd.

Around 10 minutes after that his brother, Jon Foreman who is the singer and writes many of the songs came out.
He was the one I was looking forward to meeting the most. :)
I was one of the last people getting to meet him, I shook his hand and he as well was very nice and he listened to everything I had to say.
He as well thought it was cool that I was from Sweden and he told me that the band was planning on going to Sweden to do a show there.
I got to take a picture with him and he also signed my cd. I asked him if I could get a hug and he said: "Of course you can get a hug!", I was the only one out of all the people there that dared to ask him that. He made me and my friend promise that we would come to the show they will play in Sweden.

Not long after that I got to meet the last bandmembers, the second guitarist, Drew and the drummer Chad.
I told Chad that I brought along my friend that had hardly listened to them and now she wanted to have all of their cds, he told me that I had done a great job. :)

When I talked to Drew I told him about the fact that their songs means SO much to me because it has helped me get through alot of bad things in my life and it has always given me alot of strength and joy listening to their songs.
He told me he was beyond touched and hearing that made his night. :)

I later also talked to Jerome, the bandmember that came out first and he to was really amazed that they had fans from sweden and he told me he thought that it was really cool that I had been a fan for so long.

Overall it was an amazing night that I will never ever forget!

Updating is something that I haven't done for a LONG while.
But it has its reasons............

On the 22nd of October my dad passed away.
When I saw the number on the phone display I knew that it had happend, he had gotten admitted to the hospital a couple of days before.
So I kind of knew that it was only a matter of time.
I still can't believe that my dad is gone, I won't get to hug him anymore, I'm gonna miss all the late night conversations we would have about everything and anything. I hate the fact that I can nog longer write him an e-mail or call him and just ask him about advice or just ask a simple question.
All I can say is that I'm going to miss my big teddybear of a father. ;)

On November 2nd I flew back to Sweden in order to attend the funeral that was held on november 5th.
It feelt great seeing my mom and my sisters again, despite how everything was.
The cermony was really beautiful, it was snowing the entire time.
When I saw the casket when we entered the church it finally hit me that it was real, I could no longer hold back the tears.

Later on at the memorial service the funeral director read up the names off the people who had donated to cancer research in my dads name, it was about 30 names.
I talked memories with my sister, my best friend and some of our neighbours.

For some reason I feel relieved that part is over and I can begin to work my way through it day by day and remember all the great times I had with him. I feel blessed that I have such a wonderful family, a great hostfamily that has been a really great support and a huge amount of great friends here in the US that has been there for me.

Hmm....I didn't see that coming.

*Terry and Arlene was bound to happen.

*Barry the bellboy!
I like the confusion he has, but in my head I imagined him shorter and with glasses.

"All I did was order him of the menu" <--- Hehe!

*Jessica called Hoyt!!! So cute and adorable!
And he can't stop thinking about her.

*Jason storyline......blah!

*Does anyone know if there will be a True Blood soundtrack with just the score released
or if Nathan Barr is gonna' release an album? Because if they do I SOOO want it.

*Sometimes I really don't like Bill(most of that is because of the books)
,especially when he talks to Sookie like she's a child.

*Lafayette isn't his old bubbly self anymore, :(

*Maryann taking over Sookies house, WEIRD!

*The light of day camp is just funny! They think they can outrun a vampire?
The drill sergeant, hasn't he been in a different show?

*Hate to say it, but Ed Quinn as Stan is terrible casting, his version off Stan is SO far
from the book description.

*Hmm....I wonder if they are gonna' reveal what Maryann really is soon, because it's starting to bug me.

*Didn't I say this would happen? Sara and Jason!

"Things was better then" <--- Hehe! Stan prefers the middle ages over the present.

*Sookies outfit is SOOO country ;)

*More swedish!! yay!
*the flashback was great! I think one of the two other actors in the beginning was actually from norway or denmark,
since he had a bit of an accent. The other guy was definetly swedish.

*I'm guessing Godric must have been from other parts of europe, because if
I know my swedish history right no one looked like that during the 1100-1200.

*Daphne and Sam just makes me wanna fall asleep, BORING

*Hmmm since Barry the bellboy quit I'm guessing Sookie will probably look him up in Dallas(?)

*Maryann in Grandma Stackhouse clothes?! STRANGE!

*Lorena finally makes an apperance!.

#Hehe, loved the bad fangbanger.

#What's up with having Alexander Skarsgård almost last in the opening credits?
That's just so wrong according to me.

#Hugo actually looks alot what I imagined in the book, good casting. :)

"Bill has something I want" YAY!!!

#Stephen Moyer singing and twenties flashback!

#Lorena and Bill faking that they are french???

#Dude, what is up with Sam?
At first he hated Daphne and just because she revealed that she was a shifter he likes her?

#Good with the building up for future episode with the refereance with meeting the sun

#Eggs having a revelation off some sorts? Eh, what??

#Hehe, Andy misses Lafayettes pehsas? *hihi*

#hehe Lafayette seeing Erics face in Andys clothes!! Hilarious!!!

#awww,,Hoyt called Jessica his girlfriend and telling his mama that she's a vampire!

#Jason Stackhouse = abstinent *hihi*

#"Cool breeze on a hot summer day" <--- Isn't that from the book?

#More flashback! yay!

#Eggs did an exorcism!!

#Can't believe that Steve Newlin is not gay. *hihi*

#PAM!!!!!!!!!!

#hehe, Pam checking the fridge out for place to sleep. hihi

#Another orgy, come on, enough already!

#Deborah Ann Wool is super cute, if I say so myself :P

#Hoyt coming to Dallas for Jessica! CUTE!!!
And he drove?!

#God commands it....hmmmm I don't think so.
So much for that abstinance

*Knew it! When I saw Daphne turned as a pig the alert went off. ;)
Didn't understand what they were gonna do with Sam....

Hey all! I hope everyone is doing good and enjoying the last(?) days of this summer.
I'm getting very bad at updating this thing. ;)

Well, alot of the people I first got to know here in the US is leaving or have already left. :(
It's a bit sad, I will miss alot of them. :(
On the upside I have gotten to know a whole bunch of new girls and I see all of them on a very regular basis. :)

Saturday was a pretty crazy night, went out to Hard Times Cafe and met up with some of my friends.
After a while there me and three others decided to go to DC to a club called Ibiza, it was not so crowded when we got there, but after a while it started to fill up. We bought ourselves a drink and went up to the roof area they had there and the most craziest thing happend.
I was just talking to my friends and I turn my head a little and who do I see but a girl that is from my hometown in Sweden!!!!
She saw me as well and we were both in utter chock over the whole thing. :P
We both used to play in the same soccer team together and I have also been playing soccer with her older sister since I was six years old.
She's also an au-pair, she used to be in California but went into re-match and ended up in DC.
Overall it was a crazy and funny thing considering we come from a town with only 1000 people living there.

Next week I'm starting college, twice a week I'm gonna take a course called Reading and Discussion.
I'm excited and hoping it will be a great experience.

Took the boys to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, it was very cool and very big. We saw a dolphin show, something I have never seen in my life. Both of the boys were super excited.

Me and my friends are trying to figure out what to do this weekend since it's Labor Day weekend, we are gonna try and go somewhere.
If we can sort it all out. :P I am free from saturday through monday after all ;)

Saw Inglorious Basterds not long ago, and LOVED IT!! It was pure Quentin Tarantino excellence!
I want to go and see it again. ;)

Hilarious!

*My gosh!! That framed picture was photoshop-hell!

*Lafayette and Taras relationship is really cute and sweet in some ways. Just sayin' ;)

*Sam should really get off his high-horse.

*Maryann definetly has an agenda, if we only knew what it was. ;)

*Hehe, I knew it! Jason has the hots for Sarah Newlin!!

*Oh no! Pam rocks!

*Still don't care for Jasons storyline, it's so blah...

*Loved Eric being turned on by sookies blood and then offering his blood
to heal her wounds.
And him staring at her while Bill feed her, HOTNESS!

*Maryann is still pretty interesting.
Anyone knows if she's supposed to be the same thing as in the books or something
different?

*I like/hate that Sam in the tv-show is pretty much the same as in the books,
a coward that runs and hides when everything gets though.
Who can tell that I don't like his character? :P

"His own personal snack-machine" *hehe*

*Ginger is such an air-head! ;)

*I totally want a Fangtasia t-shirt. :)

*Eggs/Tara --- meh....don't care for that either.

*Eric/Alex: Why you so hot? :P

*Eric hitting on Sookie!!! *yay*
*I think the chemistry between Sookie and Eric is shining through more and more now.
They totally need to happen and what I have read from the spoilers, a certain thing from the book
is in the show. ;)

*Hoyt/Jessica = cuteness

*Anyone else noticed that Eric hardly could keep his eyes off Sookie? :)
"Perhaps I will grow on you"
"I prefer cancer"

^that is so like their banter in the books

"Can I kick him?" < I so love Pam and the way she said and her facial expression was great.

*The party was just weird, the pig disappearing and everything.

*Jason is so stupid....

"I die if I wasn't already dead" --- hilarious!!!

*I wonder what the heck is the deal with Daphne? Is she the creature of is she an earlier victim?
I'm still kinda' on the theory a person had that she's a character from the fourth book..

It's so random, but still so great.

*Sookie comparing Jessica with a teenager was kinda' right. ;)

*Pam and Eric speaking swedish! *yay*
I'm guessing Kristin Bauer has been working on her swedish a little, it dosen't sound as
robotic as last time.

*Eric/Alex is so freakkin' sexy, he has the most intense eyes.
I love the fact that he can look very intimitating and sexy at the same time.

*Jason is so clueless, I'm guessing eventually he will be faced with
people forcing him to shoot his sister or something.
"They live forever but we were here first", hmmmm....they were people once right? ;)

*The Tara storyline I still don't really care for, I'm wondering where they are going with that.

*I love that they are sticking with "Take me home",
as kinda' like the themesong for Sookies grandma.

*Jason is totally not gonna' keep that promise for appstinance.

*Maryann I actually like, her character intrigues me. Though I don't really understand if she's the
same kind of creature as she is in the books or not.

*Tara and Sookie as roommates, eh don't really care for it.

*The vampire side in Jessica really came out in order to convince Sookie to take her to her parents.
Stupid Sookie! :P

*Bill and Eric in Forever 21, *hihi*
And the lady in the store thinking they were gay, *hehe*

*Is it just me or dosen't the whole thing with Daphne being a waitress seem to be a cover for something?
I'm guessing the theory about her being important for future seasons might be right.

"If I want her, I can simply take her." <---- LOVE!! :P

*STUPID STUPID STUPID SOOKIE!

*I love Pam, especially the contrast in the clothing, when she's working she wears leather.
When she's not, she dresses relaxed, almost mom-like. :P

*Eric/Alexander looks good in anything he wears.

*Is it just me or does Stephen Moyer look younger compared to last season?.

Hi all!! First of all, I hope you all are enjoying the summer as much as I am! :)
I've been around on lj, I just haven't gotten round' writing down a proper post until now. :P
Welcome to my two new lj-friends: jenniferkaos and casettes , I hope you guys will ike me. :)

Since I have so much pictures on my computer now off things I have done, I compiled some of them in to a mini-picspam.

A summary off the "big" places I've been to and seen so far:
*The Pentagon( I went there because my host-dad got promoted to Lt. Colonel, it was certainly very interesting, never been to a military cermony before in my life. I'm going there again for a tour later this year.)
*New York City(Went there for a weekend with one of my au-pair friends Katrin, we had an awesome time and now I actually got to see NYC in the day light)

1.Au-pair in america, off course, we had a cool schavenger-hunt around the DC, my team actually won! *hihi*
2.The Capitol viewed from the roof off my host-mom sister Theresas apartment building in central dc.
3. The fountain in the sculpture garden, such a nice place to just sit down by and just relax and read a book.
4.The Mall, that particular picture I think I took the last day off the cherryblossom festival, very crowded.
5.Au-pair event, we had a hawaiian-luau(?), we got a nice award from our host-families, ten words that best describe us that was printed out on a nice paper in a picture-frame.The balloons we released into the air with notes off what we wished for 2009.
6.Two off my au-pair friends; Azra to the left and Monja to the right. They are two really funny girls. :P
7.Union station, me and Katrin walked down there after we were at Library of congress. This place is more than a train-station, you can shop and have some great food as well. ;). We even saw Vanessa Carlton performing "A thousand miles" there.
8. Smithsonian Castle seen from the roof of Theresas apartment building, isn't it pretty? :)
9. Me infront of the Capitol, I think it's such a cool picture. Theresa, her husband James, me and the boys had a picnic on the grass infront of the capitol.

1. Me infront of the white house, obligatory picture if you're in DC right? ;)
2. Chelsea, me and Katrin infront of the white house. :) When I got back from dc that day I discovered that I had gotten a really nasty sun-burn. :(
3. Nationals Ball Park, another au-pair event I went to, only had to pay half price, it was very interesting, especially for me that haven't seen a real baseball match in my life. We all discussed the rules and tried to figure it out, the nationals lost against the new york mets. I think I have to see at least another game in order to really understand it. ;)
4. Central Park at sunset, I love that picture, I'm so glad I took it, it's my background on my ipod-touch.
5. Me on Brooklyn Bridge, it was so windy! Every picture Katrin took of me was me with my hair in my face all the time. :P
6. Me goofing off in the disney store holding Nemo. :)
7. The Statue of liberty, hmmm....a thing that you got to have a picture off if you're in NYC right? ;) Only bad thing about it was that you weren't allowed to go up in the crown or the torch.
8. Me at Times Square, yes I know, I'm such a tourist. :P
9. The registry room at Ellis Island, I thought it was soooo cool being there considering I have relatives going through there in order to get in to USA.

1. How it looks like in the area I live in, pretty huh?
2. the beginning of the street I live on, it's really long. ;)
3. even more the same street. Only thing that bugs both me and my host-dad is that people has a problem using their driveways.
4. Brunch at Katrin's place, very yummy, she even made pancakes and bread. :)
5. Fairfax, the family cat, very snuggly cat that always want attention.
6. A pic from the american-history museum, I've almost been to every single one off the smithsonian museums now. :P
7. Library of congress, not so super interesting, nice arcitecture.
8. Avalance, one of the main rides I went on at Kings Dominion, had a lot of fun!
9. Another pic from Kings dominion, I actually won a big dog at the stand in the pic(!), but I didn't go on the rollercoaster in the pic.

YAY!!! This is making me long for sundays again. ;)

*Bill recycling is hilarious!! Only a thing he would do. :P
*Jessica I thought would irritate me to death, but surprisingly not.

The whole thing with Lafayette in the basement of Fangtasia(?),
anyone have any idea to what the wheel is for?

I don't really remember, but isn't it in the second book Erics daytime guy Bobby Burnham comes in?
I'm really hoping they will have him in the show. I'm kinda hoping he was the guy that came down in the beginning.

Jessica was funny: "Ew!! Old!" *hihi*
I'm guessing she will either go really really bad, or she will probably be somewhere in between.
But I doubt she wil ever be as "good" as Bill.

Jason really looks like a lost pubby, he really dosen't know his place in the world.
I wonder how they are gonna' play it out with him being in with the fellowship while his sister is dating a vampire.

I liked the whole scene with Sookie in her grandmothers room,
especially the instrumental version of "Take me home" playing in the background.

They put Sid Matt Lancaster in the show! He's not a big character, but I like him anyway. :)

The whole relationship with Maryann and Sam I hope they will explain more in future episodes,
because it's all confusing for me. ;)

Terry is so sweet to Arlene, but him sniffing his hair is just disturbing.

I'm really liking Michelle Forbes as Maryann, I love the fact that you can't really place her character,
if the things she does is for good or evil.

Bill and Sookie making up was hot! :D
I'm guessing Sookie is getting ALOT more comfortable with Bill in the bed. :P

Eric is so badass! Nobody messes with him.
I really hope they won't make Lafayette a vampire, that would be to obvious.
Alexander Skarsgård is so freakkin' hot as Eric, I love that he will be in every episode this season.
But I want him to have more screen time than five minutes, but I think when they go to Dallas he will have way more..

Ever since my sister played me one of their songs I have wanted to see them live and now I finally have. Best $45 ever spent! ;)

They had a local band as an opening act, The Walkmen.
They were pretty good actually.

<lj-embed id="3" />
Kings of Leon came on about 9:15pm.
They opened with Crawl, a song Chelsea and I was hoping they would open with! :)

<lj-embed id="4" /></lj-embed>

They played a great variety of songs from all of the albums.
Some of the older songs I had heard before, some I hadn't.
But I bought two of the albums this past sunday and the very first one on itunes.

I even bought a big tote-bag with their logo on it. :)

I loved all of the songs, here's some of my "main" favourites from the night:
The whole setlist is here

Devil's Song & Black Thumbnail

<lj-embed id="5" />

Knocked Up:

<lj-embed id="6" />

Cold Desert:
Really liked the mood they created for this song, they shut down almost all the lights and only had the lights on behind them, really good effect.

<lj-embed id="7" />

Use Somebody:
People was singing along for the entire song, it such an awesome thing to hear a whole arena going: "Oh,oh"
<lj-embed id="8" />

Sex on fire:
Caleb Followill was all: "You guys want to sing along?"
When the opening riff came on, the entire crowd went wild. :)
The played it one more time in the encore as well.
<lj-embed id="9" />

Fans:

<lj-embed id="10" /></lj-embed>

Taper Jean Girl:

<lj-embed id="11" />

Slow night, so long:

<lj-embed id="12" />

If you ever get the chance to see them live: GO!!! You won't regret it!
I will never forget it! :D

Hi all!
I'm still here. Just been busy with everything.
New York and the whole orientation thing was great fun, got to meet so many people from different parts of the world;
Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Kanada, France, South Africa, Thailand etc.
We were about 80 girls at orientation, which actually was one of the smaller groups they've had so far.

Gosh, I can't believe I've almost been here with the family for a month now.
The family is so great! The boys I'm taking care of are so cute and they have such great personalities,
even though they can be difficult at times. :)
This week has been the first "real" week, the dad started his new job at Pentagon and the mom left for Afghanistan last week.
They moved from Ohio to DC the week before I came to them, so they've both had time off before starting their duties.

One thing I thought was going to be very hard for me was the driving, but so far it has been very easy, I don't have to do much at all. ;)
I currently hate the gps that's in the car I'm driving, it has a tendency to take me on a really big detour when I want to go to a certain place. *argh*

Yesterday was really fun, got to meet two of the girls that was on orientation with me: a swedish girl and a mexican girl.
Also got to meet three new people that has been in DC for about 6 months, two girls from Germany and one from south korea.
We had so much fun just talking and laughing and we watched a movie together.
Took the last Metro back at about 1:45 in the morning, didn't get home until about 3 in the morning.
I was mighty tired when I got up today.

Today has been fun though, been with the boys, the dad and the boys aunt.
First we went to the Great Falls, a bit outside of Washington, beautiful waterfalls!!
We later went to the air and space museum, which is one of the Smithsonian museums, SO BIG!!
We were in there until closing and we didn't even have time to see everything, good enough there is no fee to go in there,
so I will probably go there again and also see all the other Smithsonians.

Tomorrow is my day off, I'm gonna try and go to Best Buy and see if the Geek Squad there can fix my laptop.
And then later we will see where the day takes us. :)

I think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:
1) The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role or character or just the person.
2) Post a picture!

First for the good news, I'm currently sitting at a coffee shop in Stockholm waiting for my train ride home.
I've been at the US embassay here to get my US visa. I'm approved!!! YAY!!!
But what a freaking long waiting time!!!
First I had to stand outside in a line for about 45 minutes before even getting into the building.
And then when I came inside it was alot of people already waiting.
I had to wait for about another two hours inside until they finally called my name and the whole thing with the person checking my papers only took about two minutes! :P
Dude, never again I say.

My train ride is going in about fortyfive minutes, I'm gonna stock up on food, drink, and a lot of magazines. :)

Now for the not so good news.

My dad have a brain tumor, we found out about a week ago. I felt like I was in a movie, you always hear about it happening to other families and persons, but never your own family and certainly not your dad. My whole family was in total schock, my mom, me and my sister went home that day because we couldn't handle working after finding out a thing like that.

I've cried so much, but alot of things has happened since then. The doctors gave him some medicine, because he had some swelling in his brain that caused him to fall down. But now he's almost walking as his old self again. He had an MRI today and apparently he will get to go home until brain specialists let him now what they think is the best course of treatment. I'm confident that he will get through this because he's such a fighter and he's always in good spirits. I have my ups and downs, but I'm trying to stay positive all the time.

++First of all the great news;
I have finally got a family that I'm gonna' work for in the US!! I'm going to Washington D.C!! *YAY*!!!! :D
Talked to the entire family about a week ago, they were SO easy to talk to, it felt like I was talking to someone I had known for a long time.
I'm gonna' be taking care of two boys, 5 and 10 years old.
I'm flying from Gothenburg on February 23rd to New York, the organization I'm going with is having an orientation-course in Stamford for about four days before I will go the family on february 26.

++ Now I have like a million things to do before going, the most important thing being the visa and getting an international drivers license.

++ Now for the not so great news:
On Thursday my dad got a mini stroke. My mom called home and told me that my dad wasn't feeling well and was on his way home.
When he got home he had not cordination in his left arm, he was able to grip big things, but he wasn't able to focus his arm and hand to do the things he wanted it to do.
I drove him to the ER and after nearly five hours of waiting the doctor came in and told me and my dad that he had had a mini stroke, it was called a TIA. I was pretty calm because I knew he would be getting the treatment that was necesscary, but I was very pissed off that we had to wait so freakin' long.
After that we went home. The next the day he went to the hospital again and they x-rayed his brain, the result revealed that the mini stroke and another incident that had occured some time between 2007-2009 had caused some damage to his brain.
It was SOO scary hearing that. He's gonna' get some new medicine that works against the forming of blood clots, to prevent something like this to happen again.
